Laundry machines were a bit beat up. And dryer didn’t work well. Other than that, thought it was really solid!

Reception is frankly unacceptable. Terrible. I have stayed here twice, first in September 2025 and again in May 2026.
This is my second stay at Quartier Libre Opéra. I first stayed here in September 2025 and returned in June 2026. During my first visit, I assumed the shortcomings were simply part of a newly opened property finding its footing. Unfortunately, nothing seems to have improved.
I arrived on a Sunday around lunchtime and once again found myself standing outside with my luggage, unable to enter. For a small boutique property with limited resources, I could understand not having someone permanently at the entrance. For a budget accommodation, I could also understand a more casual approach to staffing. However, Quartier Libre Opéra is neither of those things.
This is a modern, attractive, well-designed building in a prime location, charging premium rates. It is difficult to understand how a property of this level does not provide a properly staffed reception area, with a professional front-desk presence and someone available to welcome guests and assist with arrivals.
What was particularly surprising was finding a handwritten note taped to the window saying that the receptionist had “stepped out for a moment” and providing a WhatsApp number. This is simply not the level of professionalism one expects from a hotel positioning itself in this category.
To be clear, my intention is not to be negative. Quite the opposite. I genuinely like this hotel and want it to succeed because it has many strengths. The rooms are spacious, modern, comfortable and exceptionally well designed. The property feels fresh, new and thoughtfully conceived. In many respects, it is one of the most pleasant places I have stayed in Paris.
That is precisely why the reception issue is so frustrating. The hotel has all the ingredients to be outstanding, yet the first impression remains surprisingly poor and inconsistent with the quality of the accommodation itself.
I sincerely hope management addresses this. A professional, well-presented and consistently available front-desk team would dramatically elevate the guest experience and bring the service level in line with the quality of the property. Until then, the reception experience remains the hotel’s most significant weakness.
