A lovely week in the sun.

We stayed at Pardalakis Studios at the end of May and we got a great deal with Jet2 so my view is based on the fact that I don't think the accommodation cost very much at all. We arrived late to the lovely owner sat waiting in reception for us. He showed us to our room, and advised he would hang around for an hour or so if we needed anything - we'd stayed at apartments before and arrived late to find our name on a key and having to find the way to the room in the pitch black, so knowing the owner was there for anything was very nice. No rush to pay the tourist tax. The studio was small and different to what I had seen on Jet2. 2 single beds, large wardrobe, tiny kitchen area with a 2 ring hob/sink/fridge with kettle, toaster, plates in a little cupboard. The cupboards and plates etc were all clean but they did smell quite musty, I'm not sure if we were one of the first guests of the season maybe but I just gave everything a wash and a wipe and it was fine. The fridge wasn't cold when we got there so we had to turn the dial up to get it cold which took a while. The towels and bed linens were clean, white and crisp with 2 pillows, plus extra throw and lightweight duvet we found in the wardrobe which we did use as it was still a little chilly at night. The beds weren't the most comfortable but not the worst either. There was a very small shower room, like most greek studios the shower curtain situation is useless and there is a drain in the floor so I'd recommend taking a window/shower squeegee to help with the wet floors. Free aircon was a big bonus, having had to pay extra before in other similar accommodation. It was effective and not too noisy. We had room 4 and it was quite private with a small outdoor area to hang clothes to dry with a useful pull out hanger and small washing line and a little table and chairs but it did overlook the windmill maisonette patio which felt awkward at times but can't be helped. Our kitchen window had a lovely view towards the mountains, and we had a friendly cat visiting. I asked for a quieter room when we arrived as the road was quite loud which we weren't expecting, however they were full so we grabbed some earplugs the next day from the pharmacy down the road and it was mostly okay, however on the Saturday night it seemed like the races were on and was very loud! Toilet rolls, washing up liquid and hand soap were provided which was a bonus. It would of been nice to have a couple of bottles of water in the fridge when we arrived, but we were able to grab some from reception (I think they were €3.50 for 6 bottles). Towels and bedding were changed once in the week, I think its every 3rd day. Bins emptied everyday. The pool area is lovely, lots of nice greenery and flowers. The pool is open until 9pm, always clean and quite temperate too. Lots of sunbed options. We didn't stay by the pool much just as we prefer the beach and the road noise was a bit loud sometimes. There's a toilet and shower next to the bar for during the day or can be used if you have a late flight. The bar has some lovely food - the Greek salad and olives were the best we had while in Gerani. Also, not healthy, but the chips are so tasty. There are 3 or 4 supermarkets within 10-15 minute walk, a bakery 2 minute walk one way and another 5 minute walk away as well as lots of great restaurants and 2 pharmacies. We planned to use the bus to explore but actually filled our week just walking in Gerani and it was amazing. The beach is about a 10 minute walk, it's a beautiful stretch of sand/shingle with super clear water and very clean with incredible sunsets... we paticularly loved the sunbeds and food at Hippokratis apartments and they have a toilet you can use too.
Pardalakis is a small, family run business and they all work incredibly hard to make your stay what you want it to be. The family are all so smiley and kind, with lots of patience for their visitors. It has a feeling when you are there which I can't describe, we felt very welcome and very safe. I would return if I got another good deal as it was worth what we paid, it was an excellent base for us and the had everything we needed.

Fantastic family run location, perfect

Just come back from our 1st visit to Crete and it was a fantastic experience. Travelled on a package holiday with Jet2 and it was a breeze from start to finish, Chania airport was the quickest and most efficient I have ever experienced, less than 40 mins after landing we (family of 4) had cleared passport control, collected bags and were on the coach to take us to Pardalakis studios.
Made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived by Franziska, Corrina and their husbands. The accommodation we had was great, one bedroom with two beds for the boys in the main living area, bathroom surprisingly large and we had not one, not two but 3 balconies! Which the Mrs and kids loved.
Pool was great too, very deep for the most part but there is a smaller shallow end that has a barrier across to keep the less confident swimmers safe. There are loads of beds and umbrellas around the pool so there was no problem getting a space, despite the fact there were large family groups there at the same time as us. The bar is great and well stocked, you can either pay as you go or run a tab on your room and pay at the end of the day.
Considering the size of the kitchen the variety and quality of the food that is on offer is quite frankly astonishing, the Gyros pizza and club sandwich was a particular favourite of our eldest.
There’s are some lovely restaurants within a 5/10 min walk (dependant on how fast you want to walk in the heat of the evening) so you can get some fabulous meals close to the hotel. There’s beach isn’t too far away either but be mindful of the seasonal winds which can mean that the sea may not be suitable to swim in on some occasions, but it’s usually clearly marked with flags on the beach so just follow the advice and stay safe!
There’s a bus stop very close to the complex and it’s easy to hop on the bus to Platanias for 2 Euros per person (5-10 mins max) which has lots of places to eat, drink mini golf and shop. Chania is a bit further on and takes around 45 mins and is 2.40 Euros each. Be warned the bus drivers seem to have all watched the classic 90’s film ‘Speed’ and all drive like they can’t drop below 55, so you need to be on the ball to get the correct stop on your way back to Pardalakis.
Spoke to several other families on holiday who were return visitors to Pardalakis and it’s not hard to see why.
The owners were awesome and nothing was too much trouble for them, our eldest picked up a big on the way to the studios and promptly was sick all over the patio when we arrived, but Corrina didn’t bat an eye lid and were more concerned for our son and his welfare over anything else. I lost (forgot to pick up) my sunglasses on a visit to Chania and Franziska was so helpful in ringing the restaurant on my behalf to try and get them back, took a few phone calls but persistence paid off as I was reunited with my beloved, and ancient, sunglasses.
Fantasic location, accommodation, staff and facilities, if you want a great base for your holiday where you can easily relax around the pool or head off for an adventure to Chania, beach or water park you’d be hard pressed to find somewhere better.

Better than expected

This is a 2 star accommodation but, as others have stated, the experience is much more. It is run by 2 couples who do an amazing job. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a few teething problems in the first couple of days but these were dealt with quickly and efficiently. A couple could have been avoided with prior communication, ie the key to the safe needs to go in with the notch at the top Easy when you know! Air con and safe were free of charge! They supplied us with a large fan on request as there was only air con in the bedroom and we used the living area too for sleeping. Amazing place and we will join the many we met there in returning here. A massive thanks to Stelios & Franceska and Babis & Karina.

Top place

Second visit as we went last year.faultless apartment.air con and safe included.the owners are about the most friendly and nice we have encountered in any county.gardens and pool area spotless with more than enough loungers.the food served in the bar restaurant is all very good quality at a fair price.you can buy your water and milk there which saves a long haul from the supermarket.if I was to be pickey the beds are a tad firm for us but we are in our 80s.there are a few restaurants within about 10 min stroll the best of these in our opinion was oasis.its worth having a taxi to chania harbour to have a meal and watch the sunset.bus only a couple of euro a taxi 23 but comfort worth it.if you want a quiet holiday just relaxing this is a top place .it's also worth upgrading to a taxi transfer as coach takes ages.all in all a really lovely friendly clean place which really deserves a much higher rating.ps tax only 2 euro a night.
