Lovely stay

First holiday to Kos with my friend. When we arrived early evening Maritsa was there to greet us. Paid for air con €10 per night and 100% worth it! She took us straight to the room which was upstairs at the far end. Basic but clean and functional. We only used it to sleep and get changed in. Good size fridge freezer and kettle and toaster. Lovely little balcony where had a partial sea view! Building work right in front of us but they don’t start work til 9am and didn’t bother us at all. Lovely garden area in front of the studios and you can use Manolis pool and bar etc next door (also excellent!) we would 100% return!

Some good, some not so good...

Firstly, the good. The apartments were cheap, very clean and the hostess was very helpful and very generous. It's ideally positioned for quieter end of Kefalos beach and there's plenty of supermarkets and restaurants within walking distance. Longer walks into Kefalos town and there is a bus (infrequent!) into Kos and the airport. Aircon (extra cost) was fine and shower was good pressure etc.
The not so good - the room itself was quite dated - built probably 50 yrs ago and not redone since. Teak furniture etc.
Self catering was challenging - the single ring plug in cooker left no worktop space. There were 2 items of each of mismatched cutlery, plates and only 1 bowl.
We had to move from 1 apartment to another part way through - there were no balcony chairs so we had to take the indoor chairs out (although they were only plastic chairs anyway!) - There was no seating inside, except the plastic chairs.
The beds were 2 singles pushed together with 2 pillows between us.
Our kettle leaked and we didn't have a toaster in the first apartment.
We didn't use the adjacent pool.
Just to reiterate - the hostess was lovely and couldn't do enough to help, but we weren't able to get the self catering holiday we wanted.

Typical Greek style holiday apartments- we liked them

Just returned from 2 weeks stay here, booked via EasyJet. Pictures on here are exactly what we found and owners extremely helpful who live onsite. Maritsa cleans the apartments herself and does the laundry.
Inside the rooms are a bit dated but functional. Beds are comfy and linen and towels are good quality.
Provided is washing up liquid and a sponge. Hand soap in bathroom and loo paper.
My advice is to bring a T-towel and dishcloth.
Storage is at a premium but we just used the spare bed. Plenty of hangars and a little dresser with stool.
No hairdryer
Safety deposit box and air con is extra
We were not advised of the building work but it was nearly complete anyway. It’s a White Rocks building right on main road and partially blocks the view but nothing drastic. Marista keeps the builders in check and must be upset about the development and impact on her business and guests. She has been there 37 years.
We really enjoyed our time there and at the end of the day it’s a base and a bed. Can use the pool at Manolis which is clean and plenty of beds.
We had an upstairs room which we loved.

Huge cockroaches!

Of course. Here is a review in German in a natural, emotional, yet correct style:
I formatted it as a finished text that can be published.
Thanks to our stay at Maritsa, we learned how huge cockroaches can be!
It is simply unimaginable that the hostess knows exactly the condition of the apartment and still rents it to guests without any bad conscience.
Even upon arrival, I was shocked because I did not recognize the room at all. Neither this room nor the building are visible in the photos of the accommodation.
Furthermore, the hostess did not mention at check-in that we could only use the air conditioning for an additional charge of €10 per night. However, the booking explicitly states that the air conditioning is included in the price. While TUI was reviewing the case, we had to spend the first night without air conditioning.
That night was a complete nightmare. Due to the heat, we could hardly sleep, were bitten by countless mosquitoes, and even suspected that there were bedbugs. We did not get a wink of sleep all night. The next morning, we immediately packed our things and left as quickly as possible.
That was by far the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in. If your health and well-being are important to you, you should definitely avoid this accommodation.

Great location and value for money

Basic accommodation, clean and functional. Friendly, helpful owner. Went with Love Holidays; good value! Location was very good, about 150 meters to Agios Stefanos beach, where you can swim over to Kastri Island, and there are various water sports are available. There is a pool next door that's free to use, with sunbeds and bar serving food and drinks all day. Almost everywhere with a swimming pool allow anyone to use, providing you buy drinks. There is a really good evening restaurant just a few minutes walk up the hill from The Maritsa serving fabulous food, with a view of the sea and Kastri Island. Very happy that the best restaurant we tried was the closest, and not overpriced either. For more restaurants, shops and pools etc. It's about half hour walk down towards the harbour. The beach is busier down there, but there are more eateries to chose from. The reason I give 4 stars and not 5, is that the showers in both our apartments had no holder for the shower head, and were very tiny with a curtain that keeps sticking to you unless you carefully stretch it out and spray it to the tiles and shower tray, but with no holder it's difficult to wash long hair and you can't bend over to wash it due to the lack of space and the curtain. Some other apartments may have better ones, but we just had 2 studios for 2. I know there are larger apartments in the main building. The owner is lovely and very easy going. We were allowed to keep both our rooms until 8pm as we had a late flight, and there was no hurry to pay the tourist tax of 12 euros and the aircon fee of 7 euros per day. This has to be paid in cash, but there are plenty of cash points. The nearest is 5 mins down the road, next to Supermarket Jim. This is well stocked and has pretty much everything anyone could need on holiday. Any questions, I'm happy to try and answer.

Very good location
