A Lucky Save on our first visit to Mèrida

This was our first visit to Mérida, and it started with a booking mistake — what looked online like a small, beautiful boutique hotel turned out to be nothing like we expected. We scrambled to find a nearby hotel and, as Hyatt members, chose the Hyatt Regency.
Great call. The location turned out to be excellent — close to Paseo 60 mall and restaurants, and just a short walk to Paseo Montejo. Staff were very welcoming, and our room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Dinner at Spasso was exceptional, and the pool bar server was fun and full of great local tips.
The only downside was the pool area — it doesn't match other Hyatt Regency properties. The planter beds were in shambles, the furniture felt cheap, and there were no umbrellas in the baking sun. It's due for a serious makeover.
Despite the rocky start elsewhere, the Hyatt Regency saved our trip. Fix up the pool area and this place would be even easier to recommend.

The star was great! Our power went out in the room and it took 5 minutes for them to send a tech and fix it. The hotel was clean and very nice! The food at the Italian restaurant was amazing and they made us feel special. We were there for our anniversary.

Terrible experience

The level of coordination among the staff is terrible; they tell you one thing upon arrival, then change it at dinner, and in the end, they realize they were wrong.
If you go to the bar, don't expect good service; it's slow, bad, and almost no one shows up, you're on your own. Don't order beer because it will be warm even if they swear to you that it isn't. I've been to that hotel twice and the bar service is the worst thing they have.
If you go to the dining room, wear light clothing because they don't turn on the air conditioning.

Excellent stay.

I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel, which I found to be a pleasant, cordial place, as well as clean and with quality infrastructure; I highly recommend it.

Highly recommended, half an hour from the sea.

The staff is very friendly, the facilities are in perfect condition, the breakfast is very complete and varied. It also has a comfortable and super-equipped gym.
