Don Julian is the Best!!

I am writing this review primarily to think Julian for his kindness, generosity, and understanding. We had booked Casa Riamonte almost a year in advance. Unfortunately, we used Expedia, which has a very poor reputation for online bookings here in Spain. Julian never received any confirmation from Expedia regarding our reservation. Julian went way out of his way to accommodate us in a hotel in nearby Negreira, and even drove us there. I cannot thank him enough. We both agreed that we should not use Expedia for any reason in the future. I regret not being able to stay in Casa Riamonte, but based on the quality of service from Julián, I rest assured that we would have received the best of all possible accommodations. I highly recommend Casa Riamonte based on what we experienced.

Absolutely no customer care

My wife and I recently stayed at this Albergue when walking from Finisterre back to Santiago. When I phoned to book I wasn’t impressed with the owners telephone manner.
When we arrived there was no welcome, the first thing he said was shoes and pointed to a rack in the porch, his next word was passport and then 24€.
There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with our Albergue room but with his attitude we just didn’t want to eat the meal offered which we were told would be another 12€ per person.
The owner just left is feeling very cold and not welcome.
We have been walking for 6 weeks and this was without doubt the least friendly welcome we have had in any Albergue in which we had stayed.

A great apartment, but the rest pretty average

We did a little (800m - 1km in total) detour to stay in this place when on Camino. I have to say that the apartment was very nice, probably the best we experienced on the whole route. Two floors, kitchen, all fully equpped.
As far as we werei informed, there are two types of accomodation - the apartment we stayed in and more traditional ‘albergue’.
I think the place would have been perfect for a weekend escape, but as camino accomodation it misses the atmosphere. There’s not much around, not a single bar, so you are reliant on food prepared by the owner. It wasn’t good value for money, but we could have just been unlucky.
The owner also seems very business-minded, which is fine in many places, but we weren’t used to that on camino.
If you decide to go there, be prepared for a lot of barking. There are some crazy dogs in the village.
