Nice relaxing week

Hotel BG Java was in a great position near the beach. Very clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. However the food was average. Themed nights were good but we found the majority of the food was not very warm, the restaurant was buffet style and there was plenty of choice if you liked fish. Not many meat options. The entertainment was average but nothing to write home about.
We did visit some bars in the resort some of which had live acts on which were excellent. The pool area was clean and appealing. What we liked about the pool area was that we could always get a sun lounger and no no one reserved them which was a bonus. Was very handy having the bus stop to Palma right outside the hotel. The trip to Palma was only 2€ each way and it took about 30 mins.
Overall an enjoyable holiday but geared up more for Europeans rather than the brits.

Overall, the hotel was okay, with some positives but also several areas that could be improved.
The location is great, with easy access to the beach and nearby restaurants. The waiters were lovely, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the reception staff were less welcoming. I asked questions a few times and often felt like I was bothering them. A smile and a warmer attitude would make a big difference.
The food was okay. The buffet wasn’t amazing, but it served its purpose. My AC was extremely noisy, although it was fixed very quickly. The room was still very hot during the day, and I was told the temperature couldn’t be lowered due to government rules. The bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and the pillows could do with replacing.
I also couldn’t leave my balcony doors open because neighbours were smoking and the smell came straight into my room. The hotel should reconsider allowing smoking on balconies. The hotel itself feels dated, needs refurbishment and soundproofing could be better.
Finally, I found a cockroach in the toilet. When I reported it, reception simply said they would send someone, with no apology or acknowledgement, which was disappointing.
Good location, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Our first impression upon arrival was that this hotel was very nice, the second evening that all changed. We went for dinner in the dining room and ordered 2 Pina Colada’s, the waitress said very loudly NO, she proceeded to throw the wine menu on the table and tell us they do not make those even though we had them the night before with dinner. She then walked away and never returned. We then spoke to the manager at the entrance and she confirmed we could order the drinks we wanted. We changed our table location and this same waitress came over to where we were sitting and talked to the waitress in this new section indicating us and she never approached us either. We then decided to leave the restaurant and eat elsewhere.
The last night of our stay I went into the washroom to prepare for bed around 10:00pm and walked into water all over the floor, toilet and walls dripping from the ceiling, my husband went to the front desk to inform them of the leak and get assistance in cleaning it up and was handed 2 hand towels to clean up the mess ourselves. I went down to the desk and was told only one person is on at the desk and can’t leave, he had no one who could help with the situation and he had no other rooms but could send someone up at 7:30am to deal with the issue. We were leaving in the morning at 10:00am so no point in someone coming at 7:30am after we cleaned the bathroom ourselves so we could use. I have never done a bad review or had this happen before.

The hotel is within a short walking distance of the beach and the seafront promenade, and has pleasant communal areas and a wide selection at breakfast. Unfortunately, breakfast was poorly organized, which made it chaotic, with queues and dirty dishes.
The room was somewhat worn, and the cleaning was not particularly impressive. We spent the entire week trying to get a shower problem fixed. The water pressure was poor, and the water repeatedly changed between the desired temperature and dangerously hot water.
The front door did not lock automatically, and on three occasions we found the door left open after the room had been cleaned. We repeatedly contacted reception to have the shower fixed and to ask the cleaning staff to make sure the door was properly closed, but nothing was done. We did not even receive an apology.
This is simply not good enough!
Overall, we had a reasonably pleasant stay, but in our opinion the hotel does not live up to a four-star rating.
